Pat Buchanan:  Press >  Uncut, December 2002

Pat Buchanan (Indiscreet ***)

Ex-Hall & Oates axeman does own thing with Gilt Flake genius Brad Jones at the helm.

Former session guitarist Buchanan is too much the veteran to fall firmly into the power pop camp, his own songwriting illuminated by the craft and old-school style of his current mentor, the great Brad Jones.

New Nashville smarts and orchestrated pop baroque are smeared all over "Insects & Angels" and the charged-up folk of "The Luckiest Girl In The World".    Buchanan's got something of the Lovin' Spoonful's high hum count in his favour but also makes rock beats sound interesting again.   Very lush and highly addictive.
